When the job involves concentrated acids, strong alkalis or organic solvents, the chemical compatibility of the suit determines the worker's safety boundary. WELL Protection's PBC-3500 heavy chemical suit is the main product for such high-risk scenarios.

2. What Is "Chemical Compatibility"?

 

Chemical compatibility describes how long the suit fabric can stop a specific chemical from permeating through — measured by permeation time (minutes). The same fabric can protect against sulfuric acid for 60 minutes but fail against acetone in minutes. Selection must match the fabric to the specific chemical — "one chemical suit for everything" does not exist.

 

3. Selection Procedure

 

  1. List all chemicals in the workplace, with concentrations.
  2. Check the SDS and recommended protection level for each.
  3. Compare fabric permeation times and confirm they cover the working duration.
  4. Account for temperature: heat accelerates chemical permeation — keep a higher safety margin in hot conditions.
